Ansel Adams

For my project I was going to do Sylvie Blum, but was unable to find enough information on her work. My second choice that I decided to go with was Ansel Adams.
He had an interesting take on black and white photos, but decided to do color photos later in his life because of how businesses enjoyed colored advertisements.

The church photo was taken in New Mexico in 1942. I like the black and white contrast. Looking at the photo one can see that it is about noon because of where the shadows lay.

The lake picture has great contrast with the snow in the mountain tops. The ripples in the water are more noticable with it being a black and white photo. Also with sky looking washed out it makes the mountains look darker.

Dog and Color shades

The bottom picture is the original picture. What I first did to the top picture is cropped it so the door and other objects were out of the picture. I then outlined the outside and changed the color and contrast to bring out the green in the grass, rather than the white look. I also darkened the inside of the house as you can see with the dog shadows, color of the rug and door.

Name Project

A is from the pipes of a fold up lawn chair. The U is the handle from a purse. The S was a tough one to find so I used a vacuum hose and laid it on the carpet. The T was one of the easiest, it is the post from clothes line. The I is a parking meter. The N is one of my favorite, it is the end of a fence post. I attempted to fix the contrast but it is still light.

Sunset Banner

I googled searched film strip and then uploaded one of my personal photos. This sunset was taken at Lake Michigan right after the sun went below the horizon. The flash was off when the photo was taken and it came out blurry. I cropped the photo to fit the banner and then rounded the edges, I then changed the picture style to bevel perspective and added a slight shadow.

Cropped Dandelion

Original picture.

The original picture included power lines and the sky. Cropping the picture focuses more on the dandelion petals and blades of grass.

Original & Lightened photo

This picture has been lightened & then darkened through contrast.

This picture is the Original, I chose this picture because there are many shades of green that can be played with it. The grass, the leaves upclose, as well as the ones in the background. It reminds me of TV's how some have the natural color and how others give bright vibrant colors that many people enjoy.
